Garland Police Embrace Partnership

The Garland Police Department is doubling down on its commitment to serve Garland residents by making an instructional video showing officers how to use Trusted World’s services while answering calls and seeing people in need. “This is police officers serving the community. It’s just so easy, and it’s so organized. Somebody like me, who can just log onto the computer and sign in five minutes later, I’m helping a family of five? It’s incredible,” says Garland Police Officer Matthew Pesta, describing the department’s relationship with Trusted World. He’s overseeing an instructional video showing police officers how to use the Trusted World Partner Portal in the field.

“We need to get the message of what Trusted World is about, what Trusted World does, to our staff. Our police officers are on the front line, and they are seeing the needs in the community first-hand. So we are going to train our staff on how to properly utilize Trusted World’s services.”

Officer Pesta recently got a facility tour from Trusted World Founder and CEO Michael Garrett. Pesta’s excited to be a part of a Network that provides high-quality size-specific clothing, food, and toiletries within 48 hours and at no cost to more than 800 organizations in seven North Texas Counties. In describing how empowered he feels with the partnership, Pesta says, “I hope everybody’s paying attention because this is the beginning. This is the beginning of changing this city, this state, this country, this world.”

In May, the City of Garland gave Trusted World land to build its world headquarters; Pesta’s excited to be one of the premier law enforcement entities within the Network.

Pesta says, “This is such a valuable tool and an incredible resource, and I hope first responders, schools, and nonprofits can all come together and really just channel through Trusted World.”

Volunteer Impact

Last year Trusted World turned donations into $2.4 Million of quality resources to its more than 800 North

Texas partners, directly impacting the lives of nearly 30-thousand of our neighbors.

Volunteers help make that possible. First-timers often feel the weight of the experience when sorting clothes.

Zurn Elkay volunteers, like Jessica Plancarte, says, “Seeing the process that goes into the sorting of clothing and the thought of ensuring that the clothes are not ripped and in good condition, before it’s given to the people in need, actually I was blown away by that. It only made me feel better contributing today.” Colleague, Freadrick Murray, agrees, “Some kids go to school, and they don’t have some things, or they’re lacking some things. They go to school and get bullied, stuff like that. I can see them opening that and having a good day. And having something nice so you would say you’re blessed to be able to have something that day.”

June Trusted Talks

Trusted Talks highlights Trusted World Network Partners who make a difference through technology, innovation, or sheer determination.

Hope Clinic’s Executive Director, Tanya Downing, says, “We get you in within two weeks to see one of our primary care providers, and your services are free. Your primary care services are free. Not only do our patients receive free medical services, but they also get free medications.”

Downing discusses how the clinic works, who qualifies for their services, and more in this month’s Trusted Talk, released on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
